This role will require extensive experience in the delivery of Programs and of Projects and people leadership.
As a leader of Engineering Project Delivery Lead, you will be responsible for managing and deploying an engineering project delivery capability across the organisation. This includes management of a resource pool of Project Managers and other project professionals who are deployed to undertake projects across the business Change Portfolio and also managing the relationship with third party project delivery providers to deploy their services where appropriate. Further, you will lead, developing, implement and operate the delivery frameworks and processed to ensure the successful execution of the Project Delivery objective.
This role will require extensive experience in the delivery of Programs and Projects and people leadership. Though your experiences you will have demonstrated significant experience in Systems Engineering project delivery and have practical knowledge in applying and tailoring industry frameworks (such as PMBOK, PRINCE2 and others) in an organisational context.

Your Responsibilities Will Include:
- Provide the vision and leadership for a group of 20+ staff who will be responsible for the engineering needs in Australia, as well as the operational support and building an inclusive and high performing culture.
- Deliver the Engineering project delivery capability across the organisations Change Portfolio, with demonstration of project and program management best practice.
- Define and evolve a minimum performance standard for Engineering Project Management and manage performance against this standard
- Deliver an Engineering project delivery framework to assure appropriate standards, capabilities and methodologies are applied. This framework must work in tandem with the other deliver/delivery support frameworks and those that exist across the business.
- Oversight and manage branch budget and performance targets, including the promotion of an efficient and cost-conscious culture across Project Delivery
- Work as a senior member of the Operations group to represent engineering performance issues, to promote and encourage best engineering practices.
- Work closely with the Engineering technical leaders in all aspects of engineering operations and performance across the project and organisation to deliver common approaches that maximise efficiency and performance.
- Support the roadmap development for the tools, processes and techniques that will be required for the oversight and management of engineering performance of the project.
A degree in a relevant field of engineering or systems and Portfolio, Program and/or Project management qualifications or significant equivalent relevant work experience with a defence contractor.
- Experience leading large diverse teams in a delivery environment and managing global defence contractors and delivery partners to achieve project outcomes.
- A senior level of relevant professional experience in engineering, consultancy, defence contractor and operational leadership of a high-technology or defence related projects and operations.
- Demonstrable record of successfully delivering long-term monitoring of engineering performance, tracking of metrics, and of driving performance improvements to manage an efficient engineering and maintenance operation.
- A demonstrated record of successful leadership and management of teams, promoting diversity and developing an inclusive, high-performing culture. Experience of all aspects of people management including mentoring, capability development and performance management.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and confidently at all levels, presenting complex engineering issues and concepts in a style appropriate to the audience, and the ability to represent the organisation externally.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence, build trust, shape conversations, and change behaviours through effective relationship
