English Teacher – Term 2 Contract

Our College is seeking qualified candidates to fill a term contract in our English department at Calvary. The suitable candidate will have expertise in teaching English in a high school setting.

As a teacher at Calvary Christian College, your responsibilities centre upon planning, preparing and delivering effective learning programs to unleash the potential of our students. As a teacher, you will:

• Reflect the College’s inquiry-based approach to exceptional learning in everyday practice. 
• Plan, prepare and deliver quality learning experiences in line with the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers
• Maintain competency and a current knowledge of relevant curriculum programs.
• Create supportive learning environments and effective behaviour management practices.
• Provide for the physical, social, cultural, and emotional wellbeing and safety of students while at the College and assist students in becoming effective leaders within their community. 
• Assess students for developmental, feedback and reporting purposes.
• Maintain student records and samples of work and report on student performance to students, parents, the department, and other stakeholders as required.
• Participate in the collaborative development and evaluation of the curriculum and regularly monitor, through observation and evaluation, the effectiveness of the teaching program.
• Participate in co-curricular activities, school decision making processes and professional development.
• Establish and maintain appropriate interpersonal relationships between the school and community.
• All teachers at Calvary are expected to plan, prepare, and deliver devotions as part of the College’s formation program. 

• Queensland College of Teachers registration (or equivalent)
• Knowledge of and demonstrated experience in teaching English. 

1. Demonstrated teaching competence and application of contemporary pedagogy. 
2. Demonstrated understanding of Australian Curriculum and English/literacy requirements.
3. Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills and capacity to create a classroom environment that improves student outcomes.
4. Outline how your faith and beliefs align with ours as a Christian College.
