Enterprise Architect

THE ROLE

We are looking for an Enterprise Architect to work with the Software Engineering and Infrastructure teams to ensure alignment of code being developed, platforms the code runs on and infrastructure that supports the platforms. The Enterprise Architect will play a vital role in ensuring the development of robust, scalable and innovative software that aligns with the company's business goals. The Enterprise Architect will define, maintain and own the technical architecture of the company’s core software products. We have a hybrid working environment so require this person to be based in Sydney, NSW.

RESPONSIBILTIES

Architectural Design and Oversight

• Define and enforce architectural standards, patterns, and best practices to ensure consistency and quality across the software development lifecycle.
• Work closely with development teams to ensure architectural principles are followed in the implementation of software solutions.
• Own the blueprint for each product to be deployed and each product’s interactions with the company’s core business processes.
• Be the gatekeeper who owns the logical software and hardware capabilities required to support deployment of business data and solution services.

Scalability and Performance

• Design and implement scalable and high-performance architectures to support the company's growth, ensuring they meet performance, scalability, security, and maintainability requirements.
• Conduct regular performance assessments and optimisations to ensure optimal system efficiency.
• Plan for future scalability requirements and proactively address potential bottlenecks.

Risk Management

• Identify and mitigate architectural risks in software projects, ensuring robust and reliable solutions.
• Conduct architectural reviews and audits to maintain the quality and integrity of the software architecture.
• Develop contingency plans and solutions for potential technical challenges.

Documentation

• Ensure comprehensive documentation of architectural designs, decisions, and guidelines to facilitate knowledge transfer and maintain a reference for future projects.

Quality Assurance

• Establish and enforce quality standards for software architecture, promoting adherence to coding and design standards.
• Collaborate with quality assurance teams to integrate testing practices into the development workflow to maintain a high level of software quality.

Communication and Collaboration

• Collaborate with engineering, and other cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into effective architectural solutions.
• Foster strong relationships with key stakeholders and communicate architectural decisions and their impact effectively.
• Effectively communicate architectural concepts and decisions to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Act as a bridge between technical and non-technical teams to ensure a unified approach.

Team Management

• Lead and mentor a team of architects, providing guidance and support for professional development.
• Foster a collaborative and innovative culture within the architecture team.
• Work closely with other departments to ensure alignment between architectural decisions and business objectives.

REQUIREMENTS

Education and Experience

• Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
• Proven experience in enterprise-level architecture roles.
• Leadership experience in guiding and managing architectural teams.

Technical Skills

• In-depth knowledge of various architectural styles, frameworks, and patterns.
• Expertise in designing and implementing scalable and high-performance systems.
• Proficiency in Enterprise Architecture tools and methodologies.
• Understanding of cloud computing, microservices architecture, and containerisation.

Leadership and Communication

• Exceptional leadership skills to inspire and guide architectural teams.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience in mentoring and developing architectural talent. 
• Ability to understand business needs and translate them into technology roadmaps

Change Management

• Ability to lead and manage architectural changes in an organization.
• Experience in guiding teams through technology transitions and upgrades.

Regulatory Compliance

• Familiarity with relevant industry regulations and standards.
• Experience in ensuring architectural compliance with data protection and security standards.

Budgeting and Resource Management

• Experience in managing architectural budgets and optimising resource allocation.
• Ability to balance short-term needs with long-term architectural goals.

Risk Management

• Skill in identifying and mitigating architectural risks.
• Experience in conducting architectural reviews and ensuring compliance with industry standards.
