Enterprise Architect-Integration, this role sits in UNSW IT, daily rate contract role

UNSW IT is part of UNSW’s Finance and Operations Division and provides reliable, cost effective and state of the art IT services. The Division was established in recent years to provide corporate services in support of the Faculties and Divisions. As part of this change the UNSW IT team continues to evolve as it works toward its ambition of being a world class technology delivery and support team enabling the University with world class solutions and capabilities. UNSW IT is guided by the UNSW Technology Strategy which has identified key strategic goals and capabilities for UNSW technology.
The primary purpose of the Enterprise Architect is to lead the development of target state architecture and strategy for specific business or technology domains and to ensure that the program of work is delivered in alignment to this target state. The role will lead the development of policies, standards, frameworks and architectural roadmaps to guide the planning, selection, design and implementation of solutions within these domains, and will also support IT governance. The incumbent will build collaborative relationships with senior stakeholders, vendors and application teams in the divisions and faculties, to understand and effectively translate diverse business needs and the capabilities of our strategic partners into sustainable IT solutions. This position will report into the Director of Architecture.
Specific accountabilities for this role include:
The role of an Integration Enterprise Architect requires a blend of technical expertise, strategic thinking, communication skills, and a deep understanding of both business and IT landscapes to create and maintain effective integration solutions that support’s UNSW’s objectives. An Integration Enterprise Architect plays a crucial role in designing and implementing complex integration solutions within UNSW. Specific responsibilities for this role include:
Developing integration strategies and designing architectures that facilitate the seamless connection of various systems, applications, and technologies within UNSW’s enterprise environment.
Collaborating with stakeholders, business analysts, and IT teams to understand business requirements and help plan and oversee integration solutions aligned with strategies and goals.
Assessing and selecting appropriate integration technologies, platforms, and tools to support the integration architecture.
Defining integration standards, best practices, and governance frameworks to ensure consistency, compliance, and efficient management of integration solutions across UNSW’s enterprise.
Overseeing the integration of diverse systems, applications, databases, and services to enable data flow and communication among different parts of UNSW.
Identifying potential risks and security threats related to integration processes and implementing measures to mitigate these risks, ensuring data integrity and confidentiality.
Working closely with cross-functional teams, including developers, engineers, project managers, and business stakeholders, to ensure alignment of integration solutions with business needs and objectives.
Skills and Experience
Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field or equivalent service experience providing architecture and consulting.
Extensive Data and Integration architecture experience.
Desirable - other corporate / higher education architecture experience
Ability to engage effectively with business and IT stakeholders, understand demand for technology services, distil complex business issues into easily understood messages and successfully communicate opportunities for greater business efficiency and effectiveness.
Excellent written and verbal presentation and negotiation skills, with the ability to structure and articulate messages to different audiences at all levels.
Extensive experience and knowledge of Enterprise Architecture and design, creating and maintain blueprints, reference models, and lifecycle models for technology solutions.
Demonstrated experience in performing technical governance in a complex environment
Recognised as a subject matter expert, able to give specialist advice to others and with experience of driving technology change.
Knowledge of health and safety responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training.
