MZ Mining is a mineral sands mining company focused on the production of heavy mineral concentrate (HMC) in the Murray Basin in South Australia. The Company’s principal asset is the Mindarie Mineral Sands Project located 150km east of Adelaide in the Mallee region of South Australia with a Head Office in Adelaide
Murray Zircon is well advanced in the re-development of the Mindarie mine. This role, based at the Mindarie site, provides the opportunity to be part of the team involved in this exciting project and is responsible for the environmental monitoring of the operation's activities in line with the environmental management system. The duties include:
- Managing all well repairs and new installations, ensuring all regulatory sampling can be completed as per the regulatory schedule.
- Reviewing and ensuring all data meets specification and any trends/anomalies are detected immediately.
- Environmental Clearances
- Operational Procedures, training and document control.
- Environmental Incident and Hazard Management/Moderation
- Departmental meetings & status updates
- Conduct relevant site environment and radiation safety inspections, including pre-entry vehicle weed inspections.
- Undertake post mining rehabilitation and monitoring activities.
- Provide advice on environmentally safe disposal of hazardous chemicals and wastes, including the collection of waste management tracking data.
- Ensure site monitoring equipment is maintained and calibrated for use.
- Develop, review, implement and lead the continual improvement of environmental management processes and systems.
- Assist management with presentations, approvals, documentation and development of strategies as it relates to environmental management.
- Provide input and advice to site personnel, meetings, projects and initiatives as it relates to environmental management.
- Manage and deliver project work as scheduled.
- Undertake other work as directed.
- Assist in the preparation and implementation of site environment and radiation safety policies and procedures.
- Prepare all permits required for ground disturbing activities in line with approvals.
- Collect and interpret site environmental and radiation safety compliance monitoring data.
- Collect emissions data to support NGER and NPI reporting.
You will need:
- A Bachelor of Science (or equivalent) majoring in environmental science, natural resource management, hydrogeology, ecology or similar
- At least 2 years’ experience, preferably in a mining environment
- Class C (car) drivers’ licence
- Demonstrated experience in environmental monitoring including groundwater, surface water, soil, dust radiation etc.
- Demonstrated experience in regulatory management and reporting.
- Experience in radiation safety monitoring.
- Competency in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- GIS experience (MapInfo, ArcGIS, QGIS or other);
- Experience in mining industry.
