We have an opportunity for a Lead – Environmental Approvals and Delivery to support a team of environmental professionals enabling the definition and Delivery of asset approvals strategies to implement water services State wide. The approvals strategies will secure and deliver required approvals under environmental legislation to facilitate the design, construction and operation of Water Corporation assets in alignment with Water Corporation Corporate Strategy Thrive 2035.

As an leader within the Environmental Business Unit and reporting to the Manager, Environmental Approvals, Regulation and Performance Section, this role will partner with Section Managers and Team Leaders across the business in Asset Planning and Delivery Group and in Operations Group to shape environmental outcomes throughout the life of our regulated water service assets.
You’ll step into a highly capable team of energetic professionals. As a proven leader, you will ensure your team successfully engages and communicates with internal and external stakeholders to influence and guide environmental approval outcomes as a key component of project delivery.
You will be an important part of an evolving Business Unit currently in the process of defining and embedding Environmental Management System reforms across the wide range of design and operational processes.
About you:
You will collaborate across our Assets Planning and Delivery Group and Operations Group to guide and facilitate project delivery through securing all required State and Commonwealth Environmental Approvals. This role will lead a team to guide approvals strategies, build and maintain relationships internally across the business and externally with key stakeholders, provide technical guidance and advice on risks to environmental values and demonstrate strengths across our four Corporate Values.
Key skills and experience:
You will be degree qualified in a relevant field and demonstrate substantial experience in environmental processes (as appropriate) and geographic information systems in relation to planning, environmental risk assessment, approvals processes, operational management and, overall, compliance areas.
As an experienced and engaging leader, you will coach and mentor your team to maximise individual and team potential and performance.
You will have substantial experience in leading a multi-disciplinary team of environmental specialists to deliver positive environmental outcomes in accordance with relevant State and Commonwealth project/scheme processes, e.g. Environmental Protection Act 1986 (Parts IV and V), Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999.
