The Opportunity
This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to be part of the Environmental team dedicated to playing their part to enable nation-building renewable energy projects that will provide on-demand energy and large-scale storage for many generations to come.
The position will be an on-site compliance role, primarily based in Tumbarumba and/or Cooma, working on day-to-day environmental compliance with the Senior Environmental Advisor and Environmental Business Partner. You will be working in conjunction with the Transgrid construction/site managers on a 3 week on/ 1 week off roster. Ability to travel and be based on site is essential to this role.
As the Environmental Business Partner, you will work closely with our internal staff and delivery partners on renewable energy projects, infrastructure upgrades and maintenance activities to ensure that we are doing the right thing relating to environmental best-practice and compliance obligations, as well as provide support in delivering the HSE strategy and being a ‘Safety’ leader across the business.
This role plays an integral part in working closely with regulators and key external stakeholders to identify and mitigate project and operational environmental risks. You will have a focus on and be able to effectively influence and manage expectations at all levels. A self-starter, you will thrive in a busy and ever changing, fast paced environment and will enjoy working autonomously.
About you
- Degree qualification in Environmental Engineering/Engineering Science/Natural Resources Management or equivalent.
- Extensive knowledge of environmental and safety legislation relevant to electricity networks or similar linear infrastructure.
- A current Drivers Licence.
- Understand and be proficient in the use of spatial systems and software
- Provision of environmental advice based on statutory obligations and requirements and associated regulations and guidelines
- This role requires significant travel - you will need to be prepared to travel within the state of NSW to attend site meetings and/or carry out inspection/auditing activities on various project sites. In some instances, this will involve staying overnight at regional locations within NSW.
