Osborne Richardson are the go-to Environmental recruiters across the Government sector in New South Wales and we have a couple of fantastic roles currently available with our colleagues at Blacktown City Council in Western Sydney.
We are seeking both a Stormwater Education Officer and a Sediment and Erosion Education Officer to join the team on an initial role until mid-July 2024. In these key community-facing roles, you will join an already positive and engaged team of environmental professionals to assist them in their journey towards minimising environmental impact from development. residential activities and industry in the Council area. A pay rate of $59.41/hr demonstrates the significance of this role in the Council's thinking.
In these roles, your days will certainly not be boring or devoid of things to do. You will have a diverse and never-ending body of work, where you will undertake a range of duties including:
- Developing, implementing, reviewing and reporting on Council's Stormwater Community Engagement Program and/or Clean Creeks Education Program
- Management of the Stormwater Education Program or Clean Creeks Education Program budget in accordance with Program objectives and specified timeframes
- Develop and disseminate educational material and training to increase the capacity of the development industry to implement best practice erosion and sediment control measures
- Provide expertise and advice in engaging the community with integrated water management, stormwater and waterway health issues
- Establish and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders as well as key organisations within the community
Essential
- Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Management or related field.
- Solid working experience in the development and implementation of Environmental Education materials, strategies, policies and programs related to these fields of work.
- Demonstrated high-level oral and written communication skills, including the ability to deliver presentations, write strategies, education materials and reports.
- Current class C drivers licence
Desirable
- Excellent interpersonal skills, allowing you to effectively work with internal and external stakeholders, will be a true asset.
- Relevant local government experience, including experience in managing project budgets will also be well thought of in candidates.
