The Opportunity:
We are seeking an experienced Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Manager to operate in a world-class facility, servicing one of Global CTDI's most highly respected customers. Based in the Western Sydney region of Australia, the EHS Manager will be responsible for developing, monitoring, and auditing health, safety, and environmental procedures, policies, and training throughout a local facility and region. This role will ensure Environmental compliance with all State and Federal regulations, particularly to Universal Waste disposal, recycling, and reporting, as well as Responsible Recycling (R2) reporting and standards. The position will report to the Corporate Safety Manager/Director and will be focused on achieving an incident-free work environment.
The ideal candidate will have a passion for implementing a safety culture within a global organisation and be able to quickly adapt to changing tasks.
Other Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Effectively manage and lead all aspects of the facility Environmental, Health and Safety Program.
- Investigate EHS incidents and manage regulatory investigation/inspection and enforcement actions.
- Work Cover prevention and case management
- Conduct monthly Facility Safety Audit and lead monthly Safety Team Meeting.
- Perform focused safety audits of compliance processes, determine gaps, identify corrective action options, champion preferred options, and implement gap closure actions.
- Perform Job Safety Analysis’ to identify exposure areas of various job functions within the facility.
- Serve as the leader for all safety and environmental-related incidents including property loss, near misses, first aid incidents, work cover, and lost time incidents.
- Support management and operations teams on new initiatives from a safety and training perspective.
- Assist in the development and coaching of employees and other trainers on Environmental, Health and Safety related matters.
- Support EHS Teams in reducing losses and effectively accommodating light duty work.
- Maintain accurate and Environmental sustainability record-keeping for branches in the region.
- Regularly review safety incidents to discover trends and uncover ways to foster safe incident free working environment.
- Knowledge of proper PPE, Forklift safety, Lockout/Tag out, Injury illness prevention, and Ergonomic assessments.
- Understanding of and experience with behavior based safety principles.
- Ability to perform a Root Cause Analysis / 5WHY Analysis and train others to the findings to eliminate future risk.
Lead Regional Sustainability initiatives.
- Achieve ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 certification for the new facility.
- Regularly report to Corporate Safety Leadership on Environmental, Health and Safety performance.
- Execute within an EHS budget process
- Perform risk assessments and determine plausible corrective actions
- Analyze data trends & performance to ensure that the right priorities are identified and acted upon
- Conduct periodic site visits and EHS activities such as training/auditing/assessing to ensure ongoing compliance with regulatory requirements and company EHS processes and policies.
The successful candidates will hold the following qualifications, skills and experience:
- Minimum Bachelor's Degree (BS in Occupational Health & Safety or ASP/GSP/CSP is a plus)
- Five years’ experience managing and implementing EHS programs
- Five+ years of safety experience in a light manufacturing facility, warehousing, or logistics environment.
- Minimum of three years of direct supervisory experience
- Knowledge of EPA and relevant regulations
- Ability to lead risk reduction initiatives
- Ability to manage multi-locations and EHS programs and people
- Able to persuade, influence, and make formal presentations
- Excellent oral and written communication, including speaking/presenting before large audiences. Self-motivated, high performer

- Experienced in Microsoft Office.
- ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 experience preferred.
- Professional certification preferred (ASP, CSP, GSP, STS, CIH, CSD, CSS).
- Role must sit within the Western Sydney Facility, with the ability to travel (dependent on business needs and fluctuation)
