The Perfect Opportunity
Our Natural Systems unit are seeking an Environmental Officer to join their passionate group of environmental professionals in its Environmental Strategy Team. Your role is an important one! As Environmental Officer, you will provide professional advice and project support in practical, plain language to Council and the Community as it relates to natural resource related projects, policies, plans and strategies.
Your key skills will be in project managing and communicating effectively, with a natural knack in developing and maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders to ensure Council’s objectives are met. You’ll support Council and the Community to navigate the complexities of natural resource policy, planning, and regulation, whilst assisting in the delivery of some exciting key environmental projects.
Your Team
The Environmental Strategy Team consists of a passionate team of professionals dedicated to improving environmental outcomes across Port Stephens through creative problem-solving and practical approaches. They love collaborating and working with industry-leaders to assist both Council and the Community navigate critical environmental issues and deliver successful environmental projects in Coastal, Threatened Biodiversity and Koala Management. You won’t be bored!

About you
You’ll need to:
- hold a relevant Degree in Natural Resource Management, Environmental Science, Sustainability and Environment or demonstrated equivalent;
- demonstrate experience in project or contractor management to deliver tasks within time, cost and quality;
- show experience in the preparation, securing and administration of grants (or similar funding arrangements such as quotations or tenders);
- demonstrate experience in the provision of practical, plain language advice as it relates to environmental related policies, plans and strategies or technical environmental information;
- be pragmatic and have the ability to negotiate practical environmental solutions; and
- be comfortable working in a dynamic and high performing team.
