Environmental Sustainability Manager

You willplay the pivotal role in spearheading and executing Uniting Communities' Environmental Sustainability strategy by leading the pathway to our 2035 Net Zero target.

This position is based at the multi-award winning U City  on Franklin Street - the first Carbon Neutral Whole Building in South Australia from South Australia's First Carbon Neutral Organisation.

The FTE  for this role is negotiable, ranging from 0.8 to full-time, based on the candidate's needs and requirements.

Key duties and responsibilities

• Lead and execute UC's Net Zero by 2035 roadmap
• Identify opportunities in which the organisation can make operational carbon reductions and eliminations against objectives and targets.
• Assist to develop, assess and analyse organisational processes to identify areas in which improvements can be made in accordance with our commitment to Environmental Sustainability and the 2035 Net Zero target
• Identify opportunities in which the organisation can make operational carbon reductions and eliminations against objectives and targets.
• Evaluate efficacy, feasibility and timing of sustainability projects; recommend and implement improvements as necessary and/or as approved.
• Consider sustainability proposals with attention to factors such as cost effectiveness, feasibility, and ease of integration with other programs.

About You

As an ideal candidate, you will be deeply passionate about Environmental Sustainability and you will be able to motivate those around you to drive and achieve results.

• Stakeholder Engagement: Strong interpersonal and communication skills to liaise with managers, employees, executives, board members, and other stakeholders. 
• Advocacy and Community Engagement: Proactive approach to seeking out opportunities within the wider community to advocate for increased commitment to addressing climate change and its inequitable impacts.
• Qualification - The successful candidate will have a Tertiary Qualification in Environmental Management or related area.
• Reporting and Documentation: Proficiency in drafting and preparing reports, presentations, proposals, and grant applications.
