The Team
The Personnel Security team is a small, dynamic and adaptable group of specialists who play a key role in maintaining ONI’s security integrity. Our primary function is to assess and manage personnel security risk, which we achieve through a variety of means, including: personnel security vetting, clearance assurance processes, investigations, and initiatives to build and maintain ONI’s strong security culture. The team frequently engages with other agencies and we are actively involved in the development, review and improvement of Australian Government protective security policy.
The Role
We are seeking an enthusiastic individual with a broad range of administrative experience to undertake tasks in support of security vetting processes that will ensure continuous work flows. With appropriate skills and on-the-job training provided, you will perform the role of a Vetting Support Officer within ONI’s Security team. You will do this by completing security clearance background checks and other tasks in accordance with relevant public sector legislation and policy requirements. You will work within Australian Government and ONI security policy frameworks.
Your communication skills, sound judgment, organisation skills, attention to detail and ability to multi-task will enable you to perform high quality administrative Vetting Support within a national security environment. You will engage with a diverse range of individuals, facilitate and coordinate correspondence and document work flows; respond to queries, book meeting rooms, visitor parking, provide record keeping and mail collection. You will demonstrate initiative and a professional approach to managing sensitive information discreetly. ONI’s greatest asset is our people and you will be a highly valued team member.

Desirable Attributes
- Demonstrated personnel security vetting experience will be highly regarded but is not essential.
