Job description

Role Overview  

As the Governance and Operations Support Officer, you will provide critical support to the organisation. You will be responsible for the implementation of feedback processes and reporting, organisation activity monitoring and reporting, policy and process documentation and updating, ensuring staff and volunteer training is scheduled and occurs; and assist in the development of grant applications and reporting. You will also assist in the delivery of Board and Committee Secretariat meetings and functions, including the delivery of annual reporting and general meeting papers. 

Key Responsibilities and Tasks

  • Organisational policy and process research, documentation, modernisation and reporting
  • Develop, implement and monitor staff and volunteer training schedules. 
  • Assist with digitisation and workflow optimisation projects.
  • Implement feedback management policy and process and assist in routine reporting.
  • Develop and implement program and functional activity logs and develop and monitor routine reporting. 
  • Develop and implement an organisational approach to grant applications and targeting, streamlining applications, reporting and acquittal processes.
  • Assist in the delivery of Board and Committee Secretariat functions including but not limited to paper pack production, action item logging and minute drafting. 
  • Any other reasonable duties as directed.

  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously with broad direction and as part of a small and dynamic team.
  • Familiarity with customer relationship management systems. 
  • Have an adaptable, resilient, positive, proactive attitude and approach. 
  • Demonstrated strong problem-solving skills and good exercise of professional judgement.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in work undertaken.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and timelines. 
  • High levels of personal drive, integrity and accountability. 

Desirable

  • Knowledge of/experience within veteran/ defence sector.
  • Experience in the not-for-profit / charity sector. 
  • Governance/business administration or like qualifications.

The Families of Veterans Guild is an inclusive non-for-profit organisation and registered charity. Our vision is to improve the lives of the families of Australian veterans. Our mission is to provide the defence and veteran community with a voice, facilitate access to services, entitlements and support their social and emotional wellbeing. 

For more than 78 years, we have provided social and emotional support, a network of peers, understanding and advocacy for war widows and now also the families of Australian veterans. You will also be entitled to 4 weeks paid annual leave, 2 weeks paid personal/carer’s leave and flex time. The organisation also has additional leave entitlements for staff with more than 12months service.
