Pumicestone State School is seeking a self-motivated and reliable person for the position of a temporary part-time Canteen Assistant.
As the Canteen Assistant you will be rostered to work Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays (8 am to 2 pm). This role is offered at 39 hours and 0.51 FTE per fortnight.

About the Role
As part of our Canteen team your duties will include (but not be limited to):
- Preparation of food according to our healthy food philosophy;
- Following Green food choices to maintain our 5 Star rating;
- Cooking in large quantities;
- Compilation and organization of online Canteen orders;
- Stock rotation and maintenance;
- Cleaning and maintenance of the kitchen to a high standard;
- Assist in the supervision and liaising with parent volunteers;
- Customer service and engaging with the students;
- Provide quality canteen and catering customer service including food production and food preparation duties, counter service, clearing tables and cleaning duties;
- Provide a clean, hygienic environment for the preparation, storage and safe handling of food;
- Follow procedure regarding food preparation and adhere to daily menu plans;
- Ensure that malfunctioning equipment is reported to the Canteen Supervisor in a prompt manner using appropriate paper work;
- Operate a cash register and collect money from client groups.

- A passion for food in line with Smart Choices guidelines;
- Previous experience working in a Canteen or kitchen will be highly regarded;
- Barista trained also highly regarded;
- Experience in customer service-related position will be highly regarded;
- The ability to suggest and prepare new menu items;
- Food safety certificate or willingness to complete course;
- Sound organizational, interpersonal and communication skills;
- The ability to work effectively in a team environment;
- Maintain a high level of personal and professional presentation at all times;
- General kitchen duties, including dish-washing, laundering of tea towels, cleaning kitchen surrounds and equipment.
