Job description
The Department for Child Protection is establishing a team for the Finding Families Project within Executive Services to support transitioning children and young people from residential care placements to family placements. We are seeking a Senior Placement Officer to join the team on a full-time term basis.
The Senior Placement Officers will work within a team to ensure children and young people who have entered into the care of the Chief Executive are provided with a care experience that best enables their development, stability and security.
The role is responsible for:
Undertaking professional assessment and review of placement requests for children and young people within residential care.
Assessing suitable placement matches for placement referrals in liaison with Placement Services.
Using a culturally accountable model of practice which enables families to mobilise their own resources.
Facilitating the development and implementation of projects, programs, services and systems.
About You
Our ideal candidate will have a demonstrated ability to deliver a high-quality service to children and young people in care. You will have experience in establishing and maintaining networks and partnerships with key stakeholders.
A proven ability to deliver programs and projects under limited direction, identify improvements and achieve objectives within tight deadlines will be a factor in your success.
To excel in this role, you will be experienced in engaging successfully with Aboriginal children, young people and families in the delivery of government services or programs.
