The Opportunity
The role carries significant responsibilities in terms of ensuring that engineering and technical activities are conducted effectively, efficiently, and in alignment with safety, quality, and regulatory standards. You will play a crucial role in the successful completion and operations of projects, which directly impacts the company's reputation, client satisfaction, and overall business success.
Key Responsibilities
- Take ownership of the mechanical technical scope of projects, providing engineering support to site-based engineers and projects teams.
- Provide technical advice to planning and site-based maintenance teams to ensure the safety and integrity of mechanical systems across the business.
- Carry out mechanical design and project tasks, following Australian standards.
- Propose and implement solutions for complex equipment challenges.
- Contribute to identifying, developing, and executing improvement projects.
- Solve mechanical issues with operational equipment.
- Guide and mentor the maintenance team on all aspects of Mechanical Engineering.
- Assess equipment and process performance through calculations and data analysis.
- Use statistical tools to analyze failure data and improve equipment reliability.
- Work with operations and maintenance teams to enhance overall equipment performance.
- Facilitate communication with operations and maintenance teams for value-added activities.
- A degree in Mechanical Engineering, recognized by Engineers Australia and 5+ years’ industry experience (minimum 3+ years post-graduate) in a Mechanical Engineering role within the mining & mineral processing sector in Australia.
- Thorough knowledge of fixed plant equipment, bulk materials handling equipment or heavy mobile equipment is essential.
- Effortless problem-solving skills with root cause analysis.
- A curious an innovative mindset, showcasing adept problem-solving skills, with an eagerness for continuous learning.
- Ability to work across various discipline projects, establish project criteria, and manage competing project elements.
- Ability to make and defend decisions, often with limited information.
- Eagerness to be based on or travel to site to build stakeholder relationships and to gain in-depth practical understanding.
- Possess exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, fostering strong collaborative relationships.
