The opportunity
We are looking for a driven Chemical Engineer / Process Engineer with significant Instrumentation and Controls Experience to help support one of our major clients in design and execution team. Interstate candidates are encouraged to apply.
Key responsibilities:
- Process Design: Identify and develop control philosophy to achieve the design process flowsheet, ensuring an assessment on the feasibility of a control strategy is provided in relation to the client specified throughput or production rate.
- Control System Design: Design, develop, and implement control systems solutions for mining, mineral processing and infrastructure projects, ensuring they meet industry standards and client requirements.
- SCADA and PLC Programming: Utilise your SCADA and PLC programming experience to create efficient and reliable control systems.
- Interdisciplinary Check: Perform check and balances against mechanical or civil infrastructure allocated to support the instrumentation, electrical and Control system design.
- Technical Leadership: Take ownership of the control system aspects within projects.
- Documentation: Independently produce technical documentation including specifications, reports, procedures and manuals to a high standard.
- Collaboration: Work closely with colleagues, clients, and other stakeholders to ensure effective communication, project alignment and successful outcomes.
- Site and Commissioning Support: Participate in site visits and commissioning activities to ensure control systems operate as intended.

Our candidate must have
- A Bachelor Degree (Honors) in Chemical Engineering.
- Involved in all major phases of project engineering i.e. Front End Engineering, Detail Design Engineering, Construction and Commissioning.
- 5+ years operational experience in Instrumentation and Control System.
- Recent experience with Filter Press Control System Design and Commissioning
- Direct experience with DeltaV Emerson, Allen Bradley/Rockwell PLC, Citect SCADA and LASTA MC Filter systems
- Relevant PLC Programming Experience (e.g. Rockwell, Schneider, Siemens, GE/Emerson)
- Relevant SCADA Programming Experience
- An ability to interpret electrical schematics and develop control systems designs based on these and other design inputs.
- An ability to understand the impact of a control philosophy on fluid mechanics and chemical reactions in a process design.
- Exceptional troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- An ability to effectively communicate with colleagues and clients, in writing and in person
- Good organisational, time management and decision-making capabilities
Desirable additional skills/experience:
- Bulk materials handling
- Mineral processing plants
- Other relevant technology related skills. For example, knowledge of IT/OT network design concepts, virtualised computing environments, advanced Microsoft Windows and Office capabilities, other programming skills (e.g. VBA, C++, etc.)
- Functional safety qualifications and/or experience
