The Opportunity
The role carries significant responsibilities in terms of ensuring that engineering and technical activities are conducted effectively, efficiently, and in alignment with safety, quality, and regulatory standards. You will play a crucial role in the successful completion and operations of projects, which directly impacts the company's reputation, client satisfaction, and overall business success.
Key Responsibilities
- Take ownership of the metallurgical / Process Engineering technical scope of projects, providing engineering support to site-based engineers and projects teams.
- Provide both operational and Process Engineering support services.
- Development and start-up of new projects, and the optimisation and re-invigoration of existing operations.
- Provide technical advice to planning and site-based maintenance teams to ensure the safety and integrity of process systems across the business.
- Carry out process design and project tasks, following Australian standards.
- Propose and implement solutions for complex equipment challenges.
- Contribute to identifying, developing, and executing improvement projects.
- Assess equipment and process performance through calculations and data analysis.
- Use statistical tools to analyze failure data and aid improvement of equipment reliability.
- Work with operations and maintenance teams to enhance overall equipment performance.
- Facilitate communication with operations and maintenance teams for value-added activities.
- A degree in Metallurgy or Chemical/Process Engineering, recognized by Engineers Australia and 5+ years’ industry experience (minimum 3+ years post-graduate) in a Metallurgist / Process Engineering role within the mining & mineral processing sector in Australia.
- Thorough knowledge of fixed plant processing is essential.
- Experience, working across a variety of commodities (including precious, base and battery metals) exposure to Critical Minerals/Battery Metals in particular lithium and/or rare earths would be highly advantageous.
- Operational experience at mines, mineral processing, or metallurgical facilities, including managing operational performance and plant improvement projects.
- A sound knowledge of project and engineering workflow processes.
- Effortless problem-solving skills with root cause analysis.
- A curious an innovative mindset, showcasing adept problem-solving skills, with an eagerness for continuous learning.
- Ability to work across various discipline projects, establish project criteria, and manage competing project elements.
- Ability to make and defend decisions, often with limited information.
- Eagerness to be based on or travel to site to build stakeholder relationships and to gain in-depth practical understanding.
- Possess exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, fostering strong collaborative relationships.
