Position:EPMO Portfolio Manager
Engagement: Day rate contract through to Jun 2025

Work Arrangement: Hybrid - Requires 2 days/week working from office, rest from home
The Role
Reporting to the Head of ePMO, the Portfolio Manager plays a pivotal role in overseeing the strategic alignment, governance, and execution of projects and programs across the organization.
The position is required to liaise and work collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders within the organization, together with senior-level internal and external parties, and provide advice and support to senior departmental leaders and the board members.
The role will require extensive input at a senior level into organization investment strategy and prioritisation, strategic planning of projects and programs, assistance with business case development, and management overview of complex, highly sensitive, projects and programs.
The role operates under broad direction exercising a considerable degree of independence. The role has a varying number of project-funded coordinators reporting to them.
This role will be the delegate for the Head of ePMO at relevant Portfolio and Enterprise governance forums.
Key Accountabilities
- Lead and manage the development of an integrated roadmap of all the organizational initiatives and provide advice to senior decision-makers on future investment priorities.
- Provide coordinated portfolio advice concerning organizational initiatives, including translating plans and the pipeline of work into a prioritised portfolio for future investment that meets the needs of organization members and customers.
- Support the development of business cases for prioritised initiatives, using multi-disciplinary project development teams.
- Actively foster constructive working relationships within the organization, other government departments and agencies, and other key stakeholders and establish ongoing initiatives to enhance these relationships.
- Provision of resourcing reports to support the Head of ePMO in the identification of resource capacity and demand requirements required to deliver programs and projects.
- Working collaboratively to provide expert information and advice regarding assessment of project delivery methodology and approach, assurance reviews, and trend insight and analysis.
Skills & experience required
- Proven experience in portfolio management role within a complex organizational setting.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and collaborate across all levels of the organization.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in portfolio management tools and software (e.g., Microsoft Project, Jira, EPM365).
- Solid understanding of financial management principles and practices.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Project Management, or related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- PMP, PfMP, SAFe, Scaled Agile or equivalent certification is highly desirable.
