About the role
Altrad is seeking a seasoned Estimating Manager to join our Subiaco head office on a permanent, full-time basis. Working closely with the leadership team, this role will oversee the preparation of multiple bids, acting as the key liaison between the client, the estimating team and other operational departments, ensuring comprehensive coordination of bid inputs.
The Estimating Manager plays a pivotal role in the management and coordination of tender pricing inputs for multi-discipline construction projects. The Estimating Manager will disseminate tender information within the team, evaluate tender strategies, manage workload, complete thorough estimate reviews and progress internal bid approvals. Demonstrating a proactive and adaptable approach, you will undertake additional duties aligned with your professional qualifications, skills, and experience to support project success.
Your day-today responsibilities to include;
- Collaborate with regional Estimating Managers to implement best practice initiatives across the company.
- Maintain a 60-day tender lookahead, review tender documents, and offer pertinent information and advice regarding tenders and estimating.
- Manage the workload and input of direct reports including civil, mechanical and electrical discipline estimators.
- Conduct analytical risk assessments for all activities, apply a commercial perspective to tender production, and prepare summaries for bid approval meetings.
- Engage in the Lessons Learned process to propose changes that enhance project success, participate in project risk and opportunity reviews, and aid in evaluating identified risks and opportunities.
- Maintain accurate records and exhibit a willingness and capability to undertake additional duties aligned with professional qualifications, skills, or experience.
About you
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience in a construction project estimating role in the energy or resources sectors. This position would ideally suit someone with an engineering or trade background in civil or mechanical disciplines.
- Experience in all aspects of multi-discipline project construction. Past experience in project engineering, site supervision or project management roles would be well regarded.
- Ability to interpret drawings and prepare accurate, detailed estimates.
- Sound analytical capabilities and technical knowledge.
- Knowledge of supply chain across Australia.
- Ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines.
- Ability to efficiently review and scrutinise the work of others.
