Estimator (Irrigation)

We currently have a position available for an Estimator to the NewGround team.

NewGround is a leading irrigation company providing, specialised water services including bores, pumping, irrigation and reticulation to Government Bodies, Agriculture and Farming, Landscapers, Developers, Golf Courses and more, for sustainable efficient water solutions. We design, install, and maintain all infrastructure to maximise the efficiency and sustainability of our client’s water use. 

About the role!

As an Estimator for NewGround you will work closely with our senior management team as well as our project managers & clients. You will be tasked with preparing detailed tenders and accurate estimates for a variety of projects. Reporting to the Lead Estimator, the successful candidate will be responsible for,

• Document control for tender packages.
• Accurately read and interpret irrigation plans, bills of quantities and other project documentation to estimate costs.
• Coordinate inputs from key supply chain vendors and subcontractors, including RFQ process and tender evaluation.
• Issue quote requests to relevant trades and suppliers.
• Preparing estimate pricing and take-offs.
• Developing a thorough understanding of tender/project requirements and outcomes; including technical specifications, budgets, safety management, quality and program.
• Assess subcontractor/supplier quotes for completeness against project scope.
• Handover to construction team on successful tenders.
• Contribute to the preparation of tender project schedules, resource histograms and construction methodologies for submission.

About you! 

The successful and ideal candidate will have.

• Degree qualified or industry experience.
• High level accuracy and attention to detail.
• Excellent written, verbal, numeric and technology skills.
• Tender and/or document writing experience is advantageous.
• Experience in the analysis & interpretation of diagrams, drawings & tenders. 
• Strong time management skills and ability to manage deadlines.
• Experience with On-Screen Take-off (OST) or similar take-off estimating software and CAD experience highly desirable.
• Working knowledge of various forms of construction and general contract legislation is viewed as advantageous.
