Estimator/Quantity Surveyor

Our client are experts in the design & construct end-to-end process, and specialise in delivering built environments across the commercial, institutional landlords and private asset owners. With offices located in the Brisbane CBD, we are a close team with a common goal to deliver exceptional environments for our clients.
Due to continued project wins, we are looking to recruit the services of a construction Estimator/Quantity Surveyor to work directly within our pre-construction team. The ideal candidate will be tertiary educated in construction management have a strong knowledge of the commercial fit-out process having worked in an estimation or contracts administration role previously.

Description/Responsibilities:
Cost Estimation

• Prepare accurate and detailed cost estimates for construction projects, considering materials, labour, equipment, and overhead costs.
• Analyse project specifications and drawings to determine the scope of works and project requirements.

Quantity Surveying

• Conduct thorough quantity surveys and take-offs.
• Collaborate with project teams to ensure accurate and timely measurement of quantities.

Budget Management

• Assist in the development and management of project budgets.
• Monitor project costs throughout the construction phase and provide regular updates.
• Complete market reviews to ensure cost plans are aligned with current rates and practices.

Tendering

• Prepare and submit competitive tender proposals.
• Collaborate with subcontractors and suppliers to gather competitive quotes.

Contract Administration:

• Review and negotiate contracts with subcontractors and suppliers.
• Monitor contract performance and resolve any disputes that may arise.

Risk Management

• Identify potential risks and uncertainties in project costs.
• Develop strategies to mitigate and manage risks effectively.

Qualifications:

• Masters or Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
• Proven experience as an Estimator/Quantity Surveyor in the construction industry.
• Strong knowledge of construction materials, methods, and processes.
• Proficient in using estimating software and Microsoft Office applications.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong Communication and negotiation abilities.

Successful Candidates:

Successful candidates will demonstrate a high level of customer service, be proficient with Microsoft 365, and an excellent communicator both verbally and written. Ideally your fit-out experience will come directly from a construction tertiary qualification or a trade background. You will be a team player that is flexible help the team where required.
