Hitachi Australia is currently seeking a qualified and motivated ETCS Onboard Maintenance Engineer to join our team based in our North Ryde, NSW office. This position can either be a permanent role or minimum 12-month fixed term contract.
The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the efficient operation of our ETCS onboard systems, providing technical support, and contributing to the improvement of our services. While a tertiary qualification in a related field is desirable, industry-related experience and a proactive mindset are crucial for success in this role.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The principal accountabilities for this position will include but not limited to:
Onboard Event Log Analysis: Utilize custom software and Microsoft Office applications for the analysis of ETCS event logs.
Fault Tracking System: Maintain and develop a comprehensive fault tracking system to monitor and address issues promptly.
Local Technical Support: Provide local technical support, including fault finding, analysis, and troubleshooting of the ETCS onboard system on the train. Rollingstock knowledge is desirable.
Escalation and Collaboration: Escalate and facilitate offshore technical support when necessary, collaborating with Hitachi staff located in Australia, Japan, and Italy.
Reporting: Prepare monthly reports with diligence, highlighting fault trends and maintaining accurate records.
Compliance: Adhere to relevant Hitachi Japan Quality Assurance processes and regulations.
Flexible Work Schedule: Work flexible shift patterns, including planned night testing, and be on-call for occasional urgent fault assistance.
Proactive Approach: Be self-motivated and organized in prioritizing and completing tasks.
Continuous Improvement: Seek opportunities to expand offerings for value-added services and contribute to the improvement of customer satisfaction.
Qualifications & experience:
- At least 5 years’ experience in a similar position
- Rail Industry Worker competency.
- Minimum TAFE Certificate III in Engineering – Technical.
- Negotiating and influencing
- Problem analysis and resolution
- Commitment to minimum 12-month contract.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate at all levels within the organisation.
