Job description

Join us in shaping the heart of Western Australia's community and cultural landscape!

This is a rare opportunity to work for a small government agency with an exciting future ahead. We are on the cusp of creating an iconic destination for Western Australia through a 20-year vision.

Burswood Park is located on the vibrant Burswood Peninsula, just minutes from the city and airport. Enriched with the stories of the Whadjuk people and boasting Western Australia's rich flora and fauna, Burswood Park is more than just a park - it's a vibrant tapestry of diverse events and activations, community engagement and cultural celebration.

Your Role

Are you passionate about fostering community engagement and bringing people together through unforgettable experiences? As the Events & Communications Officer, you'll play a pivotal role in realising the strategic vision of Burswood Park Board. Collaborating closely with internal and external stakeholders, you'll spearhead the coordination and execution of an exciting array of events while also crafting compelling communications strategies to elevate the park's profile.

Key Responsibilities

  • Curate an Exciting Events Calendar: Lead the coordination and oversight of an annual calendar brimming with dynamic and diverse events, ensuring each experience aligns with our vibrant vision.
  • Facilitate Collaboration: Act as the primary liaison for event organisers, facilitating seamless coordination and ensuring smooth execution from start to finish.
  • Develop Compelling Narratives: Utilise your creativity to prepare clear and captivating written materials tailored for various communication channels, amplifying our message, and engaging our audience effectively.
  • Create Lasting Connections: Cultivate meaningful relationships with stakeholders, nurturing positivity and garnering unwavering support for our initiatives, ensuring our community thrives.
  • Stay Ahead on Social: Keep your finger on the pulse of social media, monitoring engagement and feedback with agility, and responding promptly and thoughtfully to ensure our online presence shines.

Job Requirements

  • Previous experience in event coordination and communications.
  • Proficiency in social media management and content creation.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders and build strong relationships.
  • While not mandatory, a Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline such as communications, marketing, event management, or related field is desirable.

Other Conditions

  • Flexibility to respond to various work demands and availability to work outside of traditional business hours as required.

Why Join Us?

Be part of a dynamic team dedicated to enriching community life.

Enjoy the opportunity to shape the park's future and make a meaningful impact.

Benefit from a flexible and supportive workplace that recognises and values your individuality and unique background.
