The NSW Reconstruction Authority is seeking an Executive Director Adaptation & Mitigation to provide strategic leadership and direction to mitigation and adaptation experts and specialists in developing mitigation strategies. This role is also responsible for managing adaptation interventions to mitigate and adapt to disaster risks.
This is a critical leadership role within the Authority and will drive and implement the State Disaster Mitigation Plan, Disaster Adaptation Planning in partnership with local Councils, and whole of government policies for managing disaster risk reduction and adaptation, as well as develop methodologies for disaster resilience.
About You
We are looking for an executive with
- Demonstrated experience in managing politically sensitive issues within dynamic environments.
- Strong understanding of disaster risk management principles and practices, including assessing vulnerabilities and developing appropriate mitigation strategies.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to drive strategic priorities and deliver organisational outcomes.
- Capability to drive government-wide policies for managing disaster risk reduction and adaptation, ensuring alignment with organisational objectives and regulatory frameworks.
- Proven experience in the design, management and oversight of climate change and/or disaster adaptation planning and delivery.
- Tertiary qualifications in risk management, climate and hazard risk, planning and/or development of related disciplines.
