As the Executive Manager Underwriting and Product Development you will create a centre of excellence for Product Development and Underwriting for Home and Motor Consumer Insurance.
You will be responsible for managing and overseeing the Product Development policy and process and underwriting controls and guidelines. In conjunction with the EM Underwriting Motor and Portfolio and Product teams you will be responsible for developing acceptance guidelines and monitoring underwriting performance.
As a people champion you will lead a team of Product Development and underwriting specialists who collaborate closely with all stakeholders to deliver an exceptional customer proposition.
What you’ll do (in a snapshot)
- Work collaboratively with members of the Consumer Portfolio leadership teams and across business units to support the implementation of relevant business strategies and initiatives.
- Collaborate with Product and Portfolio teams to identify and deploy new market opportunities, product solutions and initiatives, or changes to exsting products.
- Oversee manufacture of products and delivery of PDS and other product documentation, including Product Development, underwriting guidelines and governance, policy wording and compliance.
- Design, deploy and monitor controls to ensure underwriting guidelines are complied with, and customer disclosure documents are fit for purpose and meet customer and regulator expectations.
- Responsible for the Business License’s for the Consumer Portfolio and ensuring this is cascaded via Delegated Underwriting Authorities within a well governed framework.
- Manage within Risk Appetite Statement and ensure government & regulatory compliance is maintained
- Oversee underwriting strategy and guidelines for consumer products across all brands and distribution channels, including portfolio underwriting governance.
What you’ll bring (qualifications & experience)
- Relevant tertiary qualification (e.g. Business, Finance, Commerce)
- Extensive commercial experience in insurance
- Strong experience in implementation and management of business strategies
- Experience managing relationships with senior stakeholders across the business
