The Director, Executive Services is responsible for leading the Office of the CEO (OCEO) team in a fast-paced environment to deliver high-quality administrative and business support to the CEO of Trade and Investment Queensland.
You will provide high level strategic, timely, independent advice to the CEO on major policies and issues which impact on portfolio, program and agency responsibilities.
About the business unit
The Office of the Chief Executive Officer is a key coordinating and direction setting function within TIQ, established to drive and organise delivery of key aspects of the CEO's organisational and broader responsibilities, oversight and mitigate key risks, and manage relationships with key stakeholders, including the Minister, TIQ Board, Federal and Queensland Government.
Your contribution (key responsibilities and accountabilities)
To be successful in this role you will:
- Provide strategic, consistent and timely advice to the CEO on a broad range of trade and investment matters.
- Manage emerging issues on behalf of the CEO in consultation with the executive leadership team, senior agency staff and from other government departments.
- Undertake high-level liaison and maintain effective relationships on behalf of the CEO with the Minister's office, the Executive and Senior Leadership Teams (including commissioners), and other public and private sector organisations on organisational and strategic matters.
- Manage with utmost discretion on a range of sensitive issues at the request of the CEO and maintain confidence on a range of sensitive matters for the CEO.
- Provide the governance oversight and secretariat function to ministerial meetings and other executive meetings as required.
- Identify emerging opportunities and issues, and maintain a comprehensive, state-wide and global overview on developments and events impacting TIQ and the broader trade and investment environment.
- Initiate and maintain liaison with the Minister's office, Executive and Senior Leadership Teams to identify and advocate changes that provide opportunities to improve outcomes for TIQ and clients.
- Develop and coordinate responses to complex and sensitive requests from the Minister's office and ensure resolution of issues to completion.
- Manage key relationships and communication with internal and external stakeholders, especially within TIQ and across the Queensland Government.
- Actively participate and represent TIQ at a range of forums, coordinate advice, and undertake high level negotiation and liaison on issues of strategic importance to trade and investment within Queensland.
- Lead a team that fosters an environment that values performance, continuous improvement, respect and innovation in the delivery of timely and high-quality services and advice and is focused on results and outcomes.
- Provide oversight of key agency initiatives, projects and CEO commitments to ensure quality and timely delivery.
- Manage the executive correspondence unit, including the delivery and critical evaluation of correspondence, briefing notes, reports and submissions to ensure quality, relevance and appropriateness, and that such documents comply with organisational guidelines and timeframes.
