This is a leadership role that will give room and scope to grow and have significant input into the evolution of our hotel brand in Australia. The Gig

Do you have a passion for outstanding food service and strong leadership abilities? Reporting to our Executive Chef, we are looking  for someone to take over the direction that has been established and continue to lead our incredibly talented, established and passionate team.

We are searching for an experienced and hard-working Executive Sous Chef to lead our culinary team to service excellence. Our goal is to create and maintain a sustainable menu which would delight the senses of our guests while keeping health in mind, and to also create a menu which supports healthy living and sustainability for the community and the planet. Our candidate does not have to be Vegetarian based themselves, a passion for this growing demand and market will be important.

It goes without saying that our food is paramount, but not like that all too-slick, corporate blah blah experience happening elsewhere in your traditional Hotel. We have oodles of personality, funky freshness, interesting and quirky, we shine and are always changing.  From our casual all day dining outlets to high-end launch parties and events and sublime weddings, our food will be unique with a very Ovolo twist.

What you’ll be doing

  • Assisting in Leading Kitchen Operations for Property
  • Setting and Maintaining Goals for Culinary Function and Activities
  • Ensuring Culinary Standards and Responsibilities are Met
  • Ensuring Exceptional Customer Service
  • Working in a dynamic environment with a fast-paced approach to all aspects of F&B operation.

What we’re looking for

  • Previous experience working as an Executive Sous Chef and Chef trade qualification
  • Demonstrated ability to inspire and motivate a team - lead by example
  • Build strong relationships with producers and ensures quality sourced produce
  • Impeccable attention to detail
  • Proactive and the willingness to take initiative and make sound business decisions
  • Driven, creative and a genuine passion for cooking and a strong customer service focus
  • Current knowledge of culinary trends and industry best practices - growth mindset
  • Commitment, determination, and reliability (with the availability to work late nights and on weekends as required)
  • Preferably a strong understanding of vegan | vegetarian cuisine
  • We need you to run that kitchen like a BOSS, be an inspirational leader, nurture culture and focus heavily on the Conference and Events component of the business. This is a hands-on position!
