How you will make an impact
An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Exercise Physiologist to join the team to assist with the delivery of exercise oncology research studies designed to support people with cancer. The role will involve exercise testing, exercise prescription and supervising exercise sessions to safely monitor and guide research participants through their exercise program.
The Exercise Physiologist will also be involved in study recruitment, tracking research participants’ health status, data collection, data entry and management to monitor exercise program adherence and tolerability and provide updates to trial investigators.
In 2021, Cabrini Research established a state-of-the-art Cancer Exercise Lab that investigates innovative approaches to improve the health and wellbeing of cancer patients and address current research gaps within the Exercise Oncology field. The Cancer Exercise Lab is part of the new Cabrini Cancer Institute facility located in the Cabrini Malvern hospital.
Key responsibilities will include:
Contributing to the design and delivery of individualised exercise programs for people with cancer
Delivering and supervising weekly exercise physiology sessions in small group-based settings to research participants (via telehealth/Zoom and in-person)
Assisting with other aspects of trial data collection, including physical health assessments, to monitor research participants’ progress
Contributing to study recruitment, clinical trial data entry and management, including exercise program adherence
Reporting to Lead Exercise Scientist and Principal Investigators
Working collaboratively with all study investigators, collaborators, and research staff
About you
You will require the following attributes:
An undergraduate or master’s level Degree in Exercise Physiology
Registration with Exercise & Sport Science Australian (ESSA) as an Accredited Exercise Physiologist (desirable)
Experience designing and delivering exercise programs to people with chronic disease
Competency in internet-based platforms for delivering telehealth (desirable)
Experience working in an oncology setting (desirable)
Experience working in a research setting (desirable)
Proven ability to work independently and use initiative
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Expertise in clinical exercise physiology
Knowledge of Cabrini Health Missions and Values
