Mt St Vincent is seeking a self-motivated and dynamic Exercise Physiologist who is enthusiastic about developing and leading community programs to support older individuals in maintaining their independence. This is a fixed-term position starting in May 2024 and ending in April 2025. Working hours are negotiable, with options available for Monday to Friday from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, as well as potential for a job share arrangement.

About the role: To provide quality individualised Exercise Physiology service to clients, along with appropriate support and advice to their family, carers and other Mt St Vincent staff. Someone to continue to develop, maintain and run programs in order to assist our clients to meet their goals. This is largely an autonomous role, reporting the General Manager
Key responsibilities:
- Develop and run an Exercise Physiology program for community clients as well as residents within residential aged care.
- Establish interventions for persons at high risk of developing, or with existing acute / chronic / complex medical conditions and needs.
- Undertake individual comprehensive client assessments and provide instructions and/or referrals.
- Develop innovative treatment plans and intergrade these into care plans.
- Conduct screening and risk assessments to ensure appropriate and safe exercise and physical activity interventions.
- Provide tailored health and wellbeing guidance and rehabilitation management strategies.
- Educate small workforce groups through injury prevention workshops.
- Plan, develop and review appropriate group and individual exercise programs for clients.
- Provide advice and support clients to modify lifestyle by sustainable behavioural changes
- Encourage residents to maintain independence.
- Evaluate and modify where applicable, the effectiveness of programs and document any noted changes. ’
- Involve clients/residents and their carers in decision making regarding exercise plans and negotiate agreed action plans.

Requirements
Essential:
- A tertiary qualification in Exercise Physiology or equivalent combination of training and experience in Exercise Physiology
- Exercise and Sports Science Australia (ESSA) accreditation as an Exercise Physiologist.
- Current National Criminal History Check meeting industry legislated requirements.
- Holder of Medicare provider number
- Current First Aid Certificate
Desirable:
- Knowledge and understanding of the Australian Aged Care Quality Agency Home Care Common Standards.
- Interest in the aged population and people with acute/chronic ailments and needs.
- Demonstrated experience providing Exercise Physiology Services in a Rehabilitation and/or to elderly/vulnerable clients.
