As an Experience Designer you are a competent craft person who can work as a part of a cross-functional team or independently to drive small/discreet design deliverables. You will tend to focus more on delivery exploration, testing and detailed design. You will work to an existing strategy or roadmap with the support of a Senior or Lead.
You may start to assume some mentoring duties to support Grad or Junior designers. You may also support some time-boxed improvement opportunities or strategic initiatives with the support of Lead or Senior designers.
Responsibilities
- Start to mentor other junior team members by sharing knowledge, design skills and context to help up-skill others
- Support cross-functional squads to identify opportunities to solve problems aligned to customer needs and conceptualise solutions for delivery
- Actively contribute to workshops and co-design sessions to support ideation, conceptual direction and help to define what's coming next
- Build storytelling skills to help communicate design rationale whilst working through problem-solving, delivery detail and cross-functional refinement of solutions
- Owns discreet on the job design decisions whilst actively sharing work for direction, feedback and to ensure consistent quality outcomes
- Work with research and data teams to help inform research briefs and learn more about various methodologies to help gain actionable insights
- Support senior designers with research recruitment, facilitating testing sessions and actively contribute to analysis and synthesis
- Help to inform design workflows and process improvements to produce design deliverables and documentation to support delivery
- Actively collaborate with the design systems team to improve component libraries, workflows and contribute context related to pattern solutions
- Support more junior designers with craft knowledge and start to take on some mentorship responsibilities
- Take an active role engaging and sharing knowledge within the design community
- Demonstrated experience in the digital product design field
- Experience working within cross-functional squads
- Ability to work collaboratively with multiple cross-functional stakeholders
- Developing emotional intelligence with an ability to listen, adapt to change, be curious and empathise with others
