THE ROLE

You will confidently fulfil architectural best practice, with proven successful work in areas of project team leadership, commercial acumen, design, detailing and documentation.

In this role you will manage projects from project inception and concept design and development, protecting and sustaining them through each stage until project completion. 

An experienced level of project and people management, with strong design capabilities is needed for success in this role. To ensure positive outcomes in this position, your verbal, written and visual communication skills will be exceptional.

You will align with Cumulus values and project goals, and will continuously work to achieve excellence across your work.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Projects:

• Lead projects and small project teams successfully with some senior oversight.
• Excellent client and consultant rapport and management.
• Provide a consistently high level of design, documentation and oversight across your projects.
• Proven to consistently develop and deliver successful commercial acumen, project scope, fees and variations.
• Independent organisation and communication across all work.
• Strong leadership and training skills with your project teams. 
• Work autonomously.
• Continually seek to improve performance, quality and understanding of work undertaken via end of project reflection and debriefing with your team.
• Maintain high standards and follow Quality Assurance and OH&S protocols.

Leadership:

• Represent Cumulus in a professional and competent manner at all times.
• Communicate, inspire and delegate. Train, guide and share your extensive knowledge.
• Provide mentorship through your strong leadership skills and demonstrate a commitment to upholding Cumulus Studio’s core values, systems and standards.
• Participate and ensure a positive contribution to the Practice.

EXPERIENCE & SKILLS

• Proven ability to deliver high quality architecture; with the aim of improving the built environment, sustainable design and the lives of people using it.
• Ability to independently and positively address problems and find solutions. 
• Manage and complete tasks, finding the most effective process and complete in a high quality manner.
• Drive to combine feedback with your own desire for improvement and continued growth and development. 
• Proven internal and external stakeholder communication and management.
• Excellent ability and confidence in communicating design decisions and process choices with demonstrated design skills on a variety of building types and project sizes.
• Proven ability to investigate and research technical and design issues.
• Exceptional organisation, communication, collaboration and senior leadership skills essential.
• Excellent knowledge and experience of:
  • Architectural practice and theory;
  • Design development, architectural design, documentation and detailing on a wide variety of projects;
  • Processes to ensure the compliance of project quality standards and budget requirements.
  • Architectural concepts, practices, procedures, documentation, specifications, materials and construction practices.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor/Masters of Architecture (or equivalent)

Registered with the relevant Architects’ Board in the jurisdiction in which employed. (Preferred however not essential.)
