NQM Gold 2 Pty Ltd is an Australian gold explorer, developer, and producer. Since 2009. Located south-west of Townsville, the Pajingo mine is around 50km from Charters Towers and currently employs around 250 people to run the underground mining, open cut, and ore processing operations. Charters Towers is close to Townsville and the beauty of the Great Barrier Reef, and it offers all the facilities you would expect in a large regional town.
This role reports to the exploration superintendent and will be responsible for the collection and interpretation of data from drilling, geophysical, geochemical, and geological mapping programs, in support of the site exploration strategy. This role is offered on an 8/6 roster, residential or DIDO to Charters Towers.
About you:
Tertiary Qualification in Geology
Knowledge of exploration standards and regulations
Experience working with both surface and underground diamond drilling contractors.
2 years minimum in industry experience
Experience with a geographical information system such as MapInfo or ArcView
Experience with a geological modelling software package
About the role:
Able to collect and interpret exploration data from drilling, geophysical, geochemical, and geological programs.
Conduct field geological mapping, drill-hole logging, stream sediment, soil and rock chip geochemical sampling, and geophysical program management.
Perform integrated interpretation of geological, geochemical, and geophysical data to understand the significance of results and to assist in target definition and follow-up program design.
Work closely with Geology Technicians to collect and compile data, manage parts of programs, and ensure that a safe work environment is maintained.
Assist with compilation of government-mandated geological reporting and environmental reporting.
Support the cultural heritage, community relations, and environmental management implications of exploration activities.
Interpret and validate geological, geochemical, and geophysical data to establish geological models to assist in target generation.
Minimise company risk exposure and liabilities by monitoring activities to ensure compliance with all statutory, regulatory, and licensing requirements.
Assist with the coordination of drilling contractors.
Assist with the annual budgeting process.
Identify and drive opportunities for continuous improvement in the operation.
