The GM Store Cluster role is an incredibly high-profile role that makes a powerful commercial contribution to the success and growth of a cluster of stores located in the South East, through first-class leadership, support and end to end management of the financials. Your role:

  • Operating at the helm in this GM level role, you will have full responsibility for the stores P&L and their ongoing strategic development and performance. Taking a lead role in presenting in the Group Board meetings, on KPI’s, results, strategic plans and governance will also form an important part of your remit
  • Working to your strengths, you will leverage the national strategy of the broader organisation and then translate and localise it for your store group. Influencing and managing key financial indicators to effectively maximise profitability through margin and cost control will be key as will accelerating each stores growth
  • The nature of this role will see you ‘front and centre’ bringing the vision and ‘know how’ and for developing and delivering the strategic initiatives and performance-based strategies that will take the stores and teams from ‘great’ to ‘greater’
  • Working hand in hand with your leaders to improve current systems, processes, governance and control measures will be critical as will developing robust merchandise and marketing programs at a store level and creating synergies with systems, processes and learnings across the store network and other store groups
  • Driving business compliance and ensuring to continue to raise the bar on best practice initiatives will be key as will ensuring the consistent delivery of operational excellence across the stores
  • In this very hands-on role, you will empower, influence, motivate, develop and inspire your teams to deliver an exceptional and faultless retail experience, that will ensure customers keep coming back, every time
Here’s what it will take:
  • Experience in a retail capacity ideally at a Store General Manager, Senior Store Manager and/or Multi-site/Cluster Manager level is essential. Those candidates with experience within ‘big box’ retail environments will be viewed very favourably
  • Your stakeholder and relationships management skills are ‘next level:’ You have an innate ability to leverage these strengths to influence, deliver and drive outcomes
  • Leadership ability:  You inspire with ease, and you can drive and lead change, with people and partners, always on your journey
  • You are driven: You have endless drive, determination and commitment that inspires others, and you are always ‘in it for the team’
  • Sound business acumen:  You have owned and managed significant P&L’s and understand the financial levers across all areas
  • Brilliant communication skills: You naturally translate the ‘vision’ into day-to-day operational performance
  • You are a change agent: You can transform key operational aspects and people elements to ensure sustainability, future viability, growth and profitability
  • You have strong exposure to market influences and inhabit a strong knowledge of demographics, competitor activity and environmental factors
  • You are authentic and down to earth: this oozes from your every pore
  • You take a non-hierarchical approach: you are prepared and comfortable getting your hands dirty as much as you are performing the strategic and high-level relationship management aspects of the role
  • Your core: People and the customer is at the core of everything you do
