This is a six (6) month fixed term, full-time position commencing Term 3, 2024

Halls Head College is seeking to appoint a dedicated, organised and highly motivated Facilities Resource Coordinator to join their friendly team.

The successful applicant will coordinate the daily operations related to the management and maintenance of college grounds and amenities and support the Manager of Corporate Services (MCS) in supervising the school gardening services and managing gardening staff. The successful applicant will ideally possess excellent interpersonal skills, as this role involves liaising with service providers, contractors, stakeholders, the Principal, MCS, and college staff.

Responsibilities include implementing and managing effective Occupational Health and Safety (WHS) and Emergency and Critical Incidents procedures and processes. Additionally, the successful applicant should be able to facilitate general repairs, ensuring that minor maintenance issues are promptly addressed and resolved to maintain the college's facilities in optimal condition.

Further duties include assisting the MCS in developing and implementing asset management and maintenance strategies for school facilities, equipment, and buildings. The Facilities Resource Coordinator will also help prepare and monitor budgets, draft funding submissions, evaluate tenders, and manage contracts related to facilities management. The role encompasses scheduling maintenance and repairs of gardening and cleaning machinery and ensuring compliance with Work Health and Safety legislation in all communications with service providers, contractors, and stakeholders.

We are uniquely situated on the 'island' of Halls Head just south of Mandurah. The local intake area of Halls Head College is south, close to the Waroona Shire boundary. Our partner primary schools are Glencoe, Halls Head, Falcon, South Halls Head and Ocean Road.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position. 

To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements (selection criteria):

  • Sound ability to provide effective support and input into the development, implementation and monitoring of school buildings, grounds and facilities and the ability to investigate funding opportunities.
  • Sound written, verbal and interpersonal skills, including the ability to deal effectively with a wide range of individuals at all levels.
  • Sound computer skills in a range of application software packages, including spreadsheets and word processing.
  • Understanding of Occupational Safety and Health as it relates to facilities and asset maintenance and cleaning and gardening operations.

Eligibility and training requirements

Employees will be required to:

  • provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
  • consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit prior to commencement of employment;
  • obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
  • complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
  • complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment and every three years thereafter;
  • complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement;
  • complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.

The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
