Cleared are supporting the Intel Agencies are looking to speak to TSPV cleared Facilities/Data Centre SpecialistSystem Administrator for multiple positions.
This opportunity will deliver cutting edge capabilities to Defence through a variety of different programmes and projects. To facilitate this ASD has a requirement for a System Administrator.
The Facilities/Data Centre Specialist will be responsible to assist with the acquisition and sustainment of infrastructure and data centre activities, including installation, removal, testing and configuration management.
This is a 12month contract with possibility to extend.
Overview of Responsibilities
- Maintain, build, test, upgrade, and document systems in the datacentre.
- Plan, Install and oversee multi-vendor installations of hardware, in addition to decommissioning old hardware to quality standards.
- Maintain and provision data centre infrastructure.
- Investigate issues with facilities, space, power and cooling where required, identify, and rectify operational problems across IT infrastructure, and investigate and diagnose networks problems in a multi-vendor environment.
- Upgrade software and firmware of networking hardware and servers
- Design, implement and manage configurations for networking hardware.
- Install maintain and trouble shoot hardware configuration and operating systems.
- Assist in the continuous improvement process by developing and enhancing procedures and standards.

Demonstrated Qualities:
- Undertakes routine installations and de-installations of items of hardware and/or software. Takes action to ensure targets are met within established safety and quality procedures, including, where appropriate, handover to the client. Conducts tests of hardware and/or software using supplied test procedures and diagnostic tools. Corrects malfunctions, calling on other experienced colleagues and external resources if required. Documents details of all hardware/software items that have been installed and removed so that configuration management records can be updated. Develops installation procedures and standards, and schedules installation work. Provides specialist guidance and advice to less experienced colleagues to ensure best use is made of available assets, and to maintain or improve the installation service.
- Provides technical expertise to enable the correct application of operational procedures. Uses network management tools to determine network load and performance statistics. Contributes to the planning and implementation of maintenance and installation work, including building and management of systems and components in virtualised computing environments. Implements agreed network changes and maintenance routines. Identifies operational problems and contributes to their resolution, checking that they are managed in accordance with agreed standards and procedures. Provides reports and proposals for improvement, to specialists, users, and managers.
- Maintains the network support process and checks that all requests for support are dealt with according to agreed procedures. Uses network management software and tools to investigate and diagnose network problems, collect performance statistics and create reports, working with users, other staff and suppliers as appropriate.
- Uses data centre management tools to produce management information on power, cooling and space and investigate issues where necessary. Carries out routine audit and checks to ensure adherence to policies and procedures. Facilitates the implementation of mandatory electrical safety testing.
Security Prerequisite
Must hold either a current Top Secret Positive Vetting (TSPV) security clearance OR have held a TSPV in the previous 12-month period (which has since been downgraded). Candidates with a current Defence Intelligence Agency recognised Psychological Assessment (PA) preferred but not essential.
