Wandiyali is a Newcastle-based Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community organisation. Our services operate throughout Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Hunter Region and Port Stephens.
Each year Wandiyali assists hundreds of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community members through the delivery of its many services.

The Opportunity
Wandiyali’s Family Preservation Program (FPP) aim is to deliver intensive, evidenced informed, client centred supports to vulnerable children and families within our community, to build on family strengths and reduce the risk of children entering statutory care. Referrals are made by NSW Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ), where the children are at a high risk of significant harm. The team work alongside families for up to 2 years to identify their strengths, mitigate risks, increase safety for the children and build on parenting capacity. The team seek to understand the family’s culture and ecology to ensure treatment gains are sustainable post program closure.
As a Wandiyali Family Preservation Program Manager, you provide support, supervision, and leadership to a collaborative and dedicated team of 5 practitioners.

Essential Criteria:
· A commitment to the Vision, Mission, and Values of our organisation
· Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent or proven experience working with Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander families and community
· A minimum of 2 years’ experience working with vulnerable families and Bachelor of social work, psychology, allied health, education or other social services
· Demonstrated experience leading a team, providing individual and group supervision, and supporting the processes of assessment and implementation of case plans.
· Demonstrated knowledge, experience, or willingness to commit to further training in implementing evidence-informed programs
· Knowledge and experience working with families where there are multiple complexities relating to child protection
· Demonstrated capacity for self-management, which includes time management; problem solving; planning, coordinating and prioritising multiple tasks; a realistic and balanced view of own strengths and development opportunities; accepting responsibility for own actions; recognising own feelings and personal prejudices and understanding why they occur.
· The ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships with key stakeholders, interagency partners and other services in our community
· Highly developed interpersonal skills including written and verbal communication skills
· Demonstrated ability to be self-motivated and work as a member of a busy team
· Demonstrated ability to participate positively in teamwork, training, and supervision processes.
· Alibility and willingness to implement appropriate and respectful conflict resolution strategies within the working environment and the community
· A proven commitment to quality management, continuous improvement, confidentiality, and ethical practice.
