About the Opportunity:
The role is situated within the Mental Health, Family Violence & Community Outreach Directorate, emphasizing the significance of having Family Violence specialists within VAP services. The aim is to provide optimal support for victims of Family Violence and offer secondary consultation for non-specialist Family Violence workers within VAPs to enhance their assistance to victims.
As the Family Violence Practitioner, you will deliver specialized responses to victims of crime, encompassing intake assessment, risk management, care planning, brief intervention, case management, and community education. Key qualities sought for this role include:
- Demonstrated effectiveness in working with individuals affected by Family Violence, including male victims and their children.
- Proficiency in conducting risk assessments using the MARAM framework, safety planning for women and children, and familiarity with FVISS and CISS.
- A high-level understanding of trauma's impact and the ability to employ trauma-informed practice interventions.
- Capability to support clients with cultural nuances, advocate for their needs, and provide a culturally safe and non-judgmental space.
- Knowledge of non-collusive practice, identification of predominant aggressors, and understanding of how Family Violence affects children and young people.
- Strong assessment skills, formulation of client-centered case plans using a strength-based approach, and effective collaboration with stakeholders.
- Working with Children’s Check (WWCC).
- Victoria Police Check.
- Current Victorian Driver’s License.
- Bachelor of Social Work or equivalent qualification.
- Eligible for membership of AASW.
