Job description

Family Youth & Children Development Officer

  • Salary Range Band 5 $76,848 - $88,969 plus 11% Super (pro rata)
  • 6 month temporary, part-time – 24 hours p/week, 0.6 FTE
  • Located at Bubup Nairm Family & Children’s Centre with flexible working arrangements possible. 

About the Organisation 

The City of Port Phillip is an inner-city council with around 1000 employees who deliver more than 100 programs and services to our residents, businesses and visitors. These range from childcare and immunisations, to libraries, management of parks and open space, rubbish collection, road maintenance and more. The importance of our community connecting and building relationships through family services, middle years and youth programs, playgroups, toy libraries, Maternal and Child Health, early years services, libraries, public spaces and events is recognised as a commitment in Council’s Children’s Services Policy, Every Child, Our Future.   

The FYC Development Officer is one way Council supports this commitment, supporting collaborative partnerships through strong focus on community development principles and  proactive engagement, to ensure families have access to contemporary, safe, accessible, sustainable and well promoted services and opportunities to thrive.  

With an attention to detail and strong organisational skills, this role will support department activities that require a community first approach.  

Duties:

  • Help to facilitate activities and maintain databases for networks, grants, funding agreements and licenses with key partners to ensure timely and efficient access to information, supports and funding 
  • Assist with the coordination of events, outreach activities and information sessions, including program development, organisation and support, including payments and invoicing 
  • Coordinate communications and promotions to Port Phillip’s families and other stakeholders, ensuring up to date information is available on Council programs and via emailed bulletins and website updates

Skills and Experience 

  • Extensive knowledge of Family, Youth and Children’s Services, with a focus on community development principles 
  • Ability to positively engage with a range of stakeholders including Council staff, external service providers, governance committees and community members 
  • Experience in the use of information technology, including social media
