Farm Hand - Flower Picker And Packer

As a Flower Picker and Packer at Simply Rose Petals, you will be responsible for picking edible flowers by hand in the flower field and then packing the flowers into jars and boxes in our warehouse, ready for shipment. 

Duties will include harvesting over 50 types of flowers year-round, removing petals from flowers, placing flowers and petals into containers with a high attention to quality, and packing the flowers into shipping boxes. 

In order to be successful in this role, you will need to be quality driven, physically fit, able to stand for hours at a time, and enjoy working both indoors and outdoors.

This is a year-round, ongoing position. We pack flowers 12 months of the year. When it rains or hot weather is forecast we schedule work indoors in our heated and cooled showroom. Unlike traditional farms, you will never be left without work on days of rain or hot weather.

• Maintain freshness and a high level of quality when harvesting all flowers.
• Learn how each flower is best picked, packaged and stored as well as the different colours.
• Pack flowers into boxes and jars with a high attention to detail.
• Ensure orders are despatched in a timely manner.
• Assist with farm maintenance such as cutting back roses and weeding.
   

• Experience working outdoors or in a warehouse is advantageous, but not essential. On the job training is provided.
• Enthusiastic and positive attitude. We are a highly motivated, small team.
• Able to handle edible flowers delicately without bruising the soft petals.
   

• This position is best suited to someone seeking long term employment.
• Some experience working on a farm, in a warehouse, or outdoors is beneficial, but not required.
• On the job training is provided.

• Prolonged periods standing at a bench.
• Physical fitness required for working outdoors during winter and summer.
• Ability to identify different colours of flowers.

Job Type: Full-time work, year-round.

Pay: $28.26 per hour starting rate. 

Schedule: 7.5 to 8 hour shift with some weekend availability during peak harvest in spring and autumn.

Location: We are located 10km from Swan Hill, VIC 3585. You must be able to commute daily.
