We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Dairy Farm Manager to oversee operations at our QLD dairy farms. This position offers an exciting opportunity for someone passionate about agriculture and organic dairy production to lead a team and contribute to the success of our farms.

THE ROLE

Barambah Organics is seeking an experienced and innovative Dairy Farm Manager to lead our operation to new heights of success and sustainability. This role offers a unique opportunity for a hands-on leader to implement organic farming practices, drive positive change, and make a significant impact on our farm's growth and reputation.

This role will lead a team of 10 staff across two nearby properties located close to Yelarbon QLD, overseeing a herd of approximately +500 milking cows. 

As a newly created position, the initial focus areas for the successful candidate will be: optimisation of herd performance, staff training and development and implementing herd and pasture management strategies. 

Key Responsibilities (not limited to): 

  • Lead and oversee all aspects of daily operations on our organic dairy farm, focusing on organic certification standards, sustainable practices, and animal welfare.
  • Develop and implement strategic plans to optimize herd health, milk quality, and farm productivity while adhering to organic regulations.
  • Introduce innovative farming techniques and technology to enhance operational efficiency and environmental stewardship.
  • Champion a culture of continuous improvement, professional development, and teamwork among farm staff.
  • Monitor and analyse farm performance metrics, using data-driven insights to make informed decisions and achieve production goals.
  • Implement and adhere to safety protocols to maintain farm hygiene and ensure compliance with ACO farming standards.
  • Maintain meticulous records of farm activities, herd management (including calves), and financial performance including procurement of necessary supplies.

ABOUT YOU

The successful candidate will have a genuine passion for the agriculture industry, including significant cropping and dairy/livestock experience (organic experience highly regarded).  

  • Proven experience in dairy farming with a minimum of 5 years in a managerial or supervisory role with exposure to irrigated cropping desirable
  • Strong knowledge of dairy herd management, nutrition, and health protocols.
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate and manage a diverse team.
  • Sound understanding of agricultural machinery and equipment maintenance.
  • Sound commercial judgment, capable of managing budgets and capital expenditure projects as needed.
  • Degree in Agriculture, Animal Science, or related field preferred.
