About the Role
The Customer Response Branch is accountable for ensuring the safety and amenity of our Sunshine Coast Community through the provision of response services.
The Feral Animal Officer facilitates this through working with the community investigating complaints, auditing, monitoring and enforcing compliance with the Biosecurity Act 2014 as well as Local Laws relating to Feral Animals.
It is the responsibility of the Officer to interpret legislation, regulations, policies, management plans and strategies and develop processes and procedures.
The successful incumbent will regularly liaise with the community, government authorities and the private sector, providing advice and enforcement as well as resolving disputes and appeals.
You will undertake education and control educational events on Feral Animals to meet service delivery expectations. It is a requirement of the role to keep abreast of emerging issues, trends and legislation relating to Feral Animals and advise management accordingly.
You may also be appointed to participate in special projects and provide reports as necessary to assist the unit with its’ service delivery and provide continuous improvement.
About you
Your expert knowledge of the Biosecurity Act 2014 and regulation, Animal Care and Protection Act 2001 and regulation, Weapons Act 1990 and regulation, local laws, subordinate local laws, legal procedures and other legislation, guidelines.
Complementing this practical experience will have strong communication and outstanding interpersonal and customer service skills to communicate with a variety of internal and external stakeholders, often on sensitive and challenging topics.
You are technically proficient with remote monitoring devices and mobile office technologies to maximise role efficiency. Applicants with a current boat licence will be well-regarded.

- Ability to work outside normal hours will be required, dependant on operational needs of the team.
- It is prohibited for holders of this position to be employed in, or from operating, a business as a second job that is associated with Feral Animal control.
