Fibre Technician – Secondary Subcontractor Position
Fault-Finding and Fibre Restorations
About us:
Techs On The Run is a small Telecommunications business that contracts out to larger NBN Delivery Partners (DPs). This company was established in 2020, and has grown every year since. We have developed strong relationships with all of our DPs, and are now seeking to grow our pool of Secondary Subcontractors.
About you:
We are seeking professional, polite, hard-working Fibre Technicians with experience in the field to perform works as part of a Unify Networks contract with a large DP. You will be required to provide your own transport and tools, and collect materials from the DP warehouse. We are required to meet DP-specified KPIs for the jobs you accept, and follow the applicable codes of conduct (to be provided if you join our team).
You must have your own ABN, along with insurances (PPL, Vehicle, Workers Compensation) and certifications/licences specific to the works you undertake. Further information about the relevant certifications/licences will be provided if your application to join us is successful.
The Role:
The work involved is primarily focused on field-related telecommunications restoration works, including:
- Cable hauling, splicing, installation and connection of equipment/devices - and testing.
- Pipe-proving of cable routes, ducts and conduits to inspect designated routes.
- Interpretation of network designs and specifications using DP-specific portals.
- Ability to locate cable connections between pit and customer premises, and follow designs to connect the cables.
- Installation and splicing of fibre optic cables (jointing).
- Performing cable stripping, cleaning, cleaving and splicing through heat shrinking, and undertaking post-splicing signal checks.
- Testing of fibre optic cable continuity at completion of work.
- Connecting GPON splitters and patch cords located in pits.
- Recording all readings and collect photographic artefacts of work undertaken - before, during, and after any works to support claiming corresponding SORs.
You will be required to accept calls from the DP and perform the works you agree to have assigned to your account. You will claim your own SORs through the DP portal, and invoice Techs On The Run for each job completed. Detailed guidelines for invoicing and claiming SORs will be provided to successful applicants.
Required Qualifications:
- Educational Qualification – Cert IV or Diploma in Telecommunications
- NBN enAble Skills relevant to the work you agree to undertake.
- Previous experience in the works outlined above
