Delve Underground is looking for an Engineering Geologist, Geological Engineer or Geotechnical Engineer with 1 - 3 years of field experience. This position is based in Melbourne, Victoria and the role will focus on construction support for geologic assessment, rock mapping and geotechnical engineering analyses. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a dynamic office experiencing rapid growth in a healthy market focused on infrastructure development, specifically in the underground sector for the foreseeable future.
Responsibilities:
- Provide underground geological face mapping of tunnels and excavations to enable comparison with Design as presented within the design documentation
- Communicate ground conditions to the technical lead and provide inputs into permit to tunnel meetings which determines tunnel support installation
- Log/record data during probe hole drilling; perform endoscope inspections
- Identify areas of further monitoring based on observed conditions
- Compile geotechnical data for reporting
- Collate geologic mapping and groundwater control records
Qualifications:
- Relevant tertiary degree (Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Engineering) in Geology, Engineering Geology, Geological Engineering or Geotechnical Engineering with a rock mechanics focus
- 1 to 3+ years of underground or surface geological mapping experience; experience with Melbourne tunnelling highly desirable
- Experience in field installation or design of excavation support systems and underground structures/support systems
- Demonstrated ability/experience to complete a variety of assignments such as geologic assessment, rock mapping, geotechnical field operations, development of drawings, specifications and technical memoranda that present the basis of design
- Strong observational, analytical and technical writing skills
- Ability to work independently and integrated into a wider team in a construction environment
- Familiarity with programs RocScience Suite (Slide, Dips, RocPlane, Unwedge, Swedge) and programs like ACAD and gINT is a plus but not a requirement
