About the role
The Field Operations Manager is responsible for providing leadership to the Field Operations team to ensure the AGT Narrabri trial program’s ongoing success. The Field Operations Manager will work alongside the node manager, breeding team and employees to ensure all Field Operations are implemented to achieve the desired trial objectives.
The Field Operations Manager will be the conduit between the node manager and Field Operations team to enable all activities to be conducted in a timely and high-quality manner. This includes pre-planting, planting, in-crop, and harvest activities. The Operations Manager will also be responsible for ensuring all routine maintenance and repairs are conducted to allow all operations to occur in a safe, timely and high-quality manner.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide leadership to the Field Operations team
- Coordinate all Field Operations - pre-planting, planting, in-crop, and harvest activities.
- Assist & uphold pure seed production process
- Assist breeders with field data collection
- Coordinate purchases, maintenance and management of field equipment
- Actively contribute to a constructive and supportive workplace
Key Capabilities
- Graduate qualification in agriculture or a related discipline
- Demonstrated experience in dryland agronomy (highly desirable).
- Knowledge of Australian dryland farming systems
- Field and research trial management experience
- Experience working with and cross functionally with internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Forklift and HC License (or willing to obtain)
- Chemcert Certificate (or willing to obtain)
- Mechanical aptitude
- Competent in using Microsoft Office
- Attention to detail and accuracy in managing activities and evaluating information and understanding of databases
- Ability and willingness to undertake physically strenuous work (outdoors)
