Southern Cross Contractors specialises in the installation, maintenance and inspection of Electricity Smart Meter installations, HV, CT and EN Metering and Electric Vehicle Charger Installations. Based in Wagga Wagga NSW, we provide end to end services and technical support to electricity retailers across Australia.
Qualifications & experience
- Extensive knowledge of the Service and Installation Rules, and of AS/NZS 3000 Electrical Installations "Wiring Rules"
- Previous experience in electrical meter installation and associated services is essential.
- Previous experience in auditing, training and supervising of field staff is highly regarded
- C&I metering and testing experience is highly regarded
- Ability to work independently, with attention to detail and use of initiative
- First Aid, CPR & LV Rescue certification (desirable)
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team
- QLD Electrical Licence
- Excellent communicator
- ESI Safety Rules, Testing of Connections, Work on or near electrical apparatus (desirable)
Tasks & responsibilities
- Provide support to field technicians daily. Technicians will call with technical questions regarding work instructions, Service and Installation Rules and the Electrical Wiring Rules.
- Complete both metro and regional audits, inspections and investigations on field technicians and their work to ensure technicians are following the work instructions and adhering to all relevant codes and quality expectations. Ensuring rectification work is completed in a timely manner.
- Updating the field auditing system with audit findings, as well as liaising with fellow supervisors to ensure technicians are regularly audited in accordance with client contractual KPI’s
- Conduct training from time to time both in the field and in a classroom/online environment.
- Planning & facilitating buddy training for new technicians in the field autonomously.
- Provide support to management and staff by being involved in planning, training and advice.
- Access and utilise Southern Cross Contractors Management Systems documents and records relevant to the role and notify the HSEQ Manager when any changes are required.
- Report hazards and incidents escalated from field technicians to the HSEQ Manager and Field Services Manager.
- Handle client escalations for off supply’s and customer complaints etc. in a timely manner and to a satisfactory outcome (on a rotational basis).
- Actively participate in strategic projects with fellow peers to assist in continually improving the Field Supervisory function within SCC.
