We focus on wireless communications along with implementation and support for operational technology services and systems. The business is expanding, creating the opportunity for a newly created position.
The Opportunity
A Field Systems Technician responsible for the installation, maintenance and support of technology-based hardware and systems on mine sites.
The role is based in the Newcastle / Hunter area.
The role offers a 3-day weekend - a compressed work week, 4 days on site 10-hour days. You will have the choice as to which day you have off (Monday or Friday). Ideally, this role is full-time, however we would consider part-time.
Daily the role would involve:
- Installing, faultfinding and maintaining a range of technology on mining machines, communication towers and other infrastructure located on a mine site.
- A high degree of autonomy where you will often be responsible for your own schedule and task management.
- The responsibility for building and maintaining relationships with site personnel and providing effective communication to your site contacts and the Optech team.
- Risk assessment and site procedure compliance
- Using laptops, associated software, and test equipment to carry out fault finding and resolve hardware issues and failures.
- Acting as the first point of contact for our customers and managing issues through to resolution
- Workplace health and safety management
The role would suit someone who enjoys:
- on-site work;
- working at heights;
- dealing with clients both technical and non-technical;
- new technology and systems;
- fault finding (sometimes under pressure); and
- working in a closely knit team environment.
You will work with a Senior Engineer and the founding Director who have on average 25 plus years’ industrial engineering experience. You will have the opportunity for upskilling and further study.
We offer a competitive salary package (base salary starting at $90k plus superannuation) commensurate with your skills and experience.
Tools of trade provided will include a vehicle, laptop, and phone.
What you’ll need to succeed
We are looking for a candidate who:
- Holds a Certificate III in Electronics and Communications or related course (preferred).
- Trade qualified Auto Electrician or at least 3-4 years of field experience working with either telecommunications and or electronics background.
- Demonstrated experience working in hardware installations on mobile machines, towers, and trailers (preferred not essential)
- Holds a current NSW Driver’s License
- Experience working at heights (preferred)
- General awareness of onsite hazards, dangers and situations that are present on industrial sites and a good understanding of WHS.
- Proven technical aptitude and fault-finding skills
- Strong quality and customer service approach
- Knowledge of MS computer applications and administrative procedures
- Is adaptable and willing to learn and work in a production-orientated environment.
