We are actively recruiting 2 Chef professionals to join our team at our Archer River workforce camp near Weipa QLD.
The Role:
- Provide breakfast, crib lunch, desserts or dinner service for residents on site (be able to work both nightshift and dayshift on a rotating roster) some split shifts may apply occasionally.
- Ensure food presentation, product presentation and meal service are to Sirrom standards.
- Work within budgeted food costs.
- Maintain minimal food wastage.
- Prepare and serve meals according to the menu and Sirrom Guidelines in line with client requirements.
- Maintain a strict health and hygiene standards and systems in the kitchen.
Essential skills and experience required:
- Minimum 2 years work experience on a remote mine-site village or workforce camps.
- Bulk catering experience, hands on cooking of bistro & buffet style services.
- Must have the ability to lead utilities and deliver high quality service, food service and preparation methods.
- Hands on role, responsible for all areas of the kitchen and dining room areas, including cleaning dishes, wiping tables, restocking service area.
- Ability to work autonomously and unsupervised.
- Strong food costing and budgeting for ordering and stock take control.
- Ordering and collection of deliveries from main entrance.
- Problem solving skills with ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Excellent time management and organisational skills.
- Ability to enforce a strict health and hygiene standards and systems in the kitchen.
- Display a friendly and considerate disposition, ensuring a harmonious work environment.
What you need:
- Cookery qualifications - minimum (or equivalent) Certificate III in Commerical Cookery
- Food Safety for Supervisor's Certificate (desirable)
- Must have a current open driver's licence.
- Proof of current Right to Work in Australia.
- National Police Check - no more than 1 month old
- To be able to pass a pre-employment medical and drug screening.
The successful candidates will have strong experience in a fast-paced bulk cooking operation. If you have proven bulk cooking experience, have fly-in-fly-out experience and can work well under pressure in a medium size kitchen operation, have a creative flare and genuine passion for food, please apply as we would love to speak with you.
