Airport Development Group (ADG) owns and manages diverse infrastructure assets across the Northern Territory including airports, hotels, aviation, and commercial buildings. Investing, developing, and managing long term infrastructure to grow the Territory and Northern Australia.
The primary focus of this role is to provide high-quality strategic financial guidance and insight for the Property and Commercial business unit at ADG. You will interpret business needs and translate these into meaningful quantitative and qualitative information which enables the achievement of Airport Development Group’s objectives.
The Finance Business Partner is a trusted advisor who builds and maintains stakeholder relationships whilst adding value to business decision making. We require someone with demonstrated commercial finance and practical experience working with a business, who has strong analytical and stakeholder management skills including a proactive approach to work and providing solutions.
This role can be based in our Cairns or Darwin office and is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced dynamic team.
The responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Support and manage inputs into the long-term business model for the business unit including pricing, penetration rates, assumptions and renewals
- Identify opportunities for increased revenue, revenue leakage or cost recovery initiatives across the portfolio (car Rentals, car parking, commercial leasing, retail sales, ground transport etc.)
- Engage with and support the business units in development of robust and realistic annual budgets
- Support the business unit performance including:
- Tracking actual business drivers vs budgets and business cases
- Pricing and volume variance analysis
- Analysis and identification of risk & opportunities
- Measure the financial performance of the commercial assets portfolio including investment returns vs business cases
- Provide input and financial support on investment decision making including achievement of investment hurdles
- Prepare and support the EGM Commercial with Capital requests
- Support analysis for commercial negotiations (renewals, concept phase, pricing reviews, etc.) including partaking in commercial negotiations
- Analysis and track budget vs actuals (including business drivers)
- Consolidate and summarise the Business Unit results
- Provide analysis on capital projects financial status vs budget and forecast
- Support preparation of Monthly Business Review (MBR) Packs
- Monthly business unit results are accurate and timely (including accruals and pre-payments)
- Meaningful monthly commentary on variance analysis for budget and forecast
- Automation and continuous improvement mindset for reporting
- Support commentary and inputs into monthly CFO report and Capital Investment Committee as and when required
- Identify, assess and manage risk through application of the ADG Risk Management Framework
- Identification of issues for referral to specialist areas, e.g. Tax, Insurance, Legal etc.

To be successful in this role you must have:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
- CA or CPA qualifications (or studying towards)
- +2-3 years’ experience working in a commercial organisation
- Demonstrated commercial finance and practical experience working within a business
- Demonstrated analytical skills including a proactive approach to work and providing solutions
- Demonstrated ability to develop positive and professional working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders, including ability to work in a small, dynamic and fast paced team
- Strong attention to detail to enable pick up of details that may have financial or commercial impact
- Strong numeracy, written and verbal communication skills
- Advanced skills in Power BI, Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
- Eligibility to hold an Aviation Security Identification Card and pass an Australian Federal Police Check
- Australian drivers’ licence or ability to obtain a licence
