The Bureau operates under the authority of the Meteorology Act 1955 and the Water Act 2007. We also fulfill Australia’s international obligations under the Convention of the World Meteorological Organization and related international meteorological treaties and agreements.
About the role
The Bureau of Meteorology is seeking a highly motivated and driven team player, who enjoys working in a rapidly evolving and forward‑thinking environment.
Our ideal candidate will have strong financial and accounting expertise, excellent communication skills, an ability to build positive working relationships with stakeholders and have a strong capacity to manage competing tasks. You will be a fast learner, who can also use their current skill set to contribute to new ideas and improvements.
Reporting to the Finance Business Partner Lead, this role is act as the key point of contact for finance related activity, including timely and accurate reporting and analysis, insight, and advice to assist with decision making.
A critical part of the role is developing a rapport with relevant Bureau staff to communicate financial information in plain English, providing advice and ensuring compliance with relevant government policies and accounting standards.
Development and maintenance of mutually beneficial relationships across the Bureau are essential to building trust and confidence in the occupant of this role. The successful candidate will bring confident communications skills, expertise in Commonwealth government financial frameworks, deep understanding of budgets, forecasts, variance reporting, financial management and leadership.
